There are not enough glowing words for Matthew Houck AKA Phosphorescent. My first live vist was at The Harvest Festival in Sydney in 2011. Wandered up to the stage front, there were only a few interested punters waiting and I had never heard of this act. They came out and played an amazing set of rock and roll that crushed me. They were the highlight of the day.

They returned to a packed Oxford Art Factory in 2014. I ran into Matthew and his wife at War On Drugs and chatted at The Metro… and had a beer.

I had watched this video of them live in NY and loved this set. I am pretty sure you will also. They announced some shows here in Australia in 2025. He did not bring the band that played the XPoNential Festival, but had a pick-up band for his show, along with his wife, Jo, on keyboards.
