It’s not a new thing to feel manipulated in this algorithmic world we inhabit.
We have heard warnings before.

We are on the brink of an amazing new super intelligence that will make our world a better place. Who is warning us that there may be a problem?
What scares the pants off me right now is that the AI Chiefs, these demigods of algorithmic hell, are now telling us that AI development has to slow down.
As I did with Project 2025, I read the playbook of the Orange Führer and his rodeo of former Fox News faces before they were elected. I did this to get an idea of what was ahead.
You did not need to be Dick Tracy to see that they gave us what they had written down with a cherry on top. Fascism and first-class criminal activity have taken hold in America like algae in a reflecting pool. Maybe the midterms will start the reckoning.
Or it could be a wrecking ball. We have about 7 weeks to see what comes of it. Blue or Red waves, all I know is that country called ‘Merica needs some systemic change if it is to survive.
But let’s get back to the existential threat….
This appeared weeks ago in the New York Times:
Dario Amodei, the chief executive of the artificial intelligence company Anthropic, published a 3,800-word open letter on Saturday calling for a slowdown in the development of A.I.
The essay prompted other A.I. leaders, including Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI; Elon Musk, SpaceX’s chief executive; and Demis Hassabis, the chair of Google DeepMind, to speak out in agreement. (NYT 13 September 2026)
This was not weeks ago. It’s hard to keep track of time even with a watch.
This was published in the last couple of days. Give it a read.
For just a moment, I felt the world was coming together and then I realised it was not the world. This was an announcement by Dario and then backed up by his fellow demigods of AI.
I smacked myself in the head and thought, “Why are the people who are building this algorithmic, super-intelligent nightmare ‘warning’ us about their developments”?
Trying to make sense of this, I decided to see if anyone out in the land of writers and journalists was peeking behind the curtain of power. If someone could explain to me why these warnings sounded like a siren, but no one knows what to do when they hear that siren. In short, who do we trust to act on the warnings?
I stumbled upon someone who understands AI a whole bunch better than I do. His name is Hamilton Mann and here is a bit about him:

In short, I do not trust the alarms when the alarms are set off by the people in power.
Well, of course, the alarm bells have been set off by an ex-Anthropic employer named Jacob Coxson. His media reach since making these claims that AI will eliminate humanity has been far reaching.
Something smells off, like a house guest that just won’t leave.
Like the bottom of the bin in the kitchen when the bag has leaked and you failed to clean it properly when you removed the full bag.
Like shit.
