Derek and Susan have this wonderful ability to make their artistry a rolling caravan of joy. With Tedeschi’s beautiful vocal strength and Truck’s extraordinary slide playing, they could simply take it on the road with a drummer and a bass player and enrich your ears.

But of course, they are a 12-piece band with 3 vocalists, the stellar Mike Mattison at the forefront, and a 3 piece horn section taking it all home.

Of late I have been immersing myself in their latest studio album “Let Me Get By” and the last live recording “Everybody’s Talking” from 2012.

They are all well worth a listen to if you want to hear about the evolution of the TTB. But this collection of songs, recorded in Oakland, showcases all members of the band and gives you the full feeling of what they can deliver live.

Although the audience level is a bit up in the mix, it does not take away from displaying a band at the top of its game.
