Take Me To Town (Stanley Records)
Album Launch- Marrickville Bowling Club
13 October 2018
Dave Favours (Stanley Records), Areatha Bryant (Mother Hen Touring) and Chris Familton (Post To Wire) stirred up their grey matter (and maybe a few margaritas) together and came up with this compilation.
Made up of what they call Alternative Country, this is a collection of 47 tracks on 3 CD’s and as good a place as any to catch up on some artists you may not be aware of.
The launch in Marrickville went for a good 6 hours and the music just kept coming at ya. Ben Leece, Jen Mize, Dave Favours and The Roads, Adam Young and Brielle Davis, Dan Brodie, The Heartache State and the inimitable Spurs For Jesus filled the evening with sound.
Many a highlight but Dan Brodie kicked off his set with 2 sterling covers. Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al”, which you do not hear covered very often and “Standing In The Doorway (Dylan) where he made the songs his own. Yes, I do love a good cover!
A decent turnout for a full evening of music and by the time Spurs For Jesus hit the boards there were a few people stumbling along to the music. Just like the old days.
Here are some pictures and videos to show you what you missed…..
