"T" Bands/Musos I Recall Seeing
Presently Sitting At 62 ...until something else pops up!
“Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again, after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground”-TH
Tab Benoit-Only caught Tab once somewhere in Missouri. Recall walking in as it commenced and dancing like an idiot. We could not stay for the end for some reason and we left as he covered a Chuck Berry tune….dancing out the door.
Taj Mahal-So many times, so many festivals.
Talking Heads-From the late ’70s until 1984 I probably saw the Talking Heads close to 10 times. The Remain In Light show in Central Park with the B-52’s took place in August 1979. We were on the rocks outside the skating rink as we had no tickets. There were thousands of us outside dancing up a dust storm.
Radio City Music Hall in 1980 and the other shows in the 80’s at Forest Hills leading up to the last Forest Hills Show in the summer of 1983.
1984 found me at The Narara Festival, poster below, while I was on holiday here in Australia.
My friend Jenni had gotten us backstage passes via a friend in the industry. The passes were simply white cloth labels with names printed on them. These were passes for people who could not make the gig. When we fronted up to “Will Call” they gave us our passes and said they could not change the names as they had no ability to do that.
For the next two days, we wandered around the backstage area eating and drinking with the bands.
We were labeled as Rick and Bitsy Brewster.
Other musicians would be sitting with me or walking past wondering who the hell I was because I was obviously not Rick!
Great conversation starter.
Also recall trying to find weed for some people, eating lunch at a table with Chrissie Hynde and Jim Kerr and other Pretenders, trying to catch a glimpse of The Talking Heads in the VIP area….and generally having a ball on holiday in Australia.
Historically, (hysterically maybe), this is where the ‘imposter syndrome’ got its name.

Teddy Morgan-Teddy Morgan and The Sevilles….what a find at Bluesfest at Byron one year. Think I saw him at Narooma also, but that is hazy. Teddy has settled into life in Nashville where he produces music.
Teddy Thompson
Tedeschi Trucks Band- If you know me, you know I rave about this band incessantly. 2022 found me on my “Catch Me While You Are Alive” visit to America.
During that journey, I caught them 4x, including 2 nights at Red Rocks. Los Lobos supported them each evening.
My good mate Nello and I were on a bit of a mission to see them as much as we could while we both crisscrossed the continent. Those shows in Colorado are amongst the best concerts I have seen in my life.
The TTB will be in Australia in March 2024. Do not hesitate. The shows will sell out.
If you go and are disappointed, there is something wrong with you.
I mean that. Come talk to me afterwards and I will help you out.
Teenage Fanclub-One of my favourite Scottish Bands after Big Country.
Ok, my favourite Scottish Band really, Big Country did not float my boat.
Television
Ten Years After-Alvin Lee burst into my consciousness from Woodstock and records around the homestead. Caught them when I was a youngster and then a bit later saw Alvin Lee and Company at The Academy Of Music in 1975. Wondering now if I ever saw Ten Years Later which Alvin put together….well…later.
Terrance Simien
Terry Adams
Terry Allen
Terry Reid
Teskey Brothers- These fellows are still kicking goals and I do believe their best is yet to come.
Tex, Don, And Charlie
Tex Perkins-Someone told me not to call him Greg when I interviewed him and I had no intention of doing that. So, that was not the reason he hung up on me.
The reason he hung up on me was he was having a bad hair day and was not being a kind human being.
Such is rock and roll.

Timothy B. Schmit- Get a haircut. Or I think he did by now. Oh no, he still has his hair…and it’s hardly grey!
Ahh, no, I was thinking of Michael Bolton. And yeah, no, never saw him perform.
Tina Turner- I can’t believe she’s gone. What a powerhouse. What a woman.
Tito Puente-Salsa, Cuban, call it what you may, Tito was the boss.
T-Model Ford
Tom Morello
Tom Paxton
Tom Petty (and The Heartbreakers)-Never got to see them enough! I miss Tom so much. I always anticipated his next release more than other artists. I loved me some Tom!
2 nights in a row on the True Confessions Tour in 1986 at the now-defunct Sydney Ent Cent were marvellous. They were the backing band for some guy named Dylan.
The Black Crowes played a 90-minute set before Petty and his band killed it at The Greek in Berkeley California. I had been in San Francisco for a 5-day work sales conference but I came down with the worst flu as the flight took off from Sydney.
The year was 2005.
Yeah, I caught our CEO John Chambers speaking, went out to one meal, and then retired to my hotel room until the last night. I saw Tom was playing and I decided I could recover anytime. I needed to go to the show. I found a ticket, got some margaritas into my bloodstream and made it through the lengthy August summer night.
Fast forward to 2017 and I found myself in the USA for a wedding and my 60th birthday. Tom and the Heartbreakers were playing at Forest Hills on the 27th of July.
My birthday.
What a great night and the last time I would commune with Tom.
I miss him.
