Supreme Partisanship...Partisanshit....How do we reboot this game?

Sometimes other menu items at fast food restaurants can be titled similarly. You may want to avoid them if you are not sharing or if on a calorie count.
Leaders can be Supreme as they are called in North Korea and Iran. Usually, except Japan, when a leader is Supreme they normally rule in the style of a dictator.
The Supreme Court Of The United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court in the land of red, white, and blue.
SCOTUS judges are appointed for life or until they retire, die or are impeached. They are nominated when there is an opening by the President who is in office at that time. There are 8 associate justices and one Chief Justice. The chief of the Supreme Pizza. 8 associate justices, make up the rest of the slices of the pizza. The similarities are amazing.
Unfortunately, the similarities to one of my favorite foods end there. The President nominates and the Senate has the job to approve or reject the candidate. The biggest problem with the nomination process is that the Supreme Leader, sorry, President in office gets to pick someone who is closely aligned to the philosophy of that President and that party.
Did you know that the President can appoint anyone to become a Supreme Court Justice? They do not have to be a judge. It has been over 40 years since that has occurred. My mind wanders thinking Trump could appoint Steve Bannon or Rudy if he so desired. Of course, they would have to be approved and even in my most insane nightmares that could not happen. Could it?
We did not think we would be here again concerned that Trump might win in 2024.
Today we have 6 Justices appointed by Republican Presidents and 3 appointed by Democrats. We have extra Republican Cheese on this bench.
That leads us to today and the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) and the ruling that has shattered battered democracy once again and the basis of how the US President can operate.
Simply, SCOTUS has given immunity to the President for any actions he takes as part of his official duties. The President would not have immunity for actions he takes that are personal and not part of his official duties. This will put us in a space where someone will have to decide which is a personal action vs an official action.
We became a nation that did not want to bow down to King George III. Our founding fathers built a constitution and Government that had checks and balances to ensure there was no King, no dictator, and no Supreme Leader in the Oval Office. This partisan, political ruling by the Republican-heavy SCOTUS has pissed all over the founding fathers of America.
Hypothetically, an unscrupulous President could circumvent laws and direct his official duties to attack his enemies/opponents. Do you think you have to keep an eye on Biden over the next few months? I believe that he is an ethical and honest man.
Imagine having a repeat of # 45 and what he could do while president again. He already disputed a legal election and supported an insurrection on January 6th. Were these actions part of his official job as President? I certainly do not believe so. The court is still out on that one, but it won’t be a Supreme Court ruling.
We do not want a dictator. We do not want a King. We do not want Trump in office again.
You know his morals and ethics are very shady. I still shake my head that a Presidential debate had him having to deny he had sex with a porn star. So, why did he pay her off? Answer me that one.
Simply, what more can I say except what Justice Sonia Sotomayor said in her dissenting opinion:
“Today’s decision to grant former President’s criminal immunity reshapes the institution of the Presidency,” Sotomayor wrote in dissent. “It makes a mockery of the principle, foundational to our Constitution and system of Government, that no man is above the law.
The President of the United States is the most powerful person in the country, and possibly the world. When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he now will be insulated from criminal prosecution.
Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune. Organizes a military coup to hold onto power. Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune.
Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends. Because if he knew that he may one day face liability for breaking the law, he might not be as bold and fearless as we would like him to be. That is the majority’s message today.
Even if these nightmare scenarios never play out, and I pray they never do, the damage has been done. The relationship between the President and the people he serves has shifted irrevocably. In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law.”
“With fear for our democracy, I dissent,” she concluded.
America should be afraid of allowing Trump to become President again. He will work at dismantling the democratic experiment that has been in place for almost 250 years. He is a conman and a grifter who only cares about himself.
Vote. It is the only chance Americans have to defeat this monster and to hold onto a semblance of democracy.
