American Politics In My Head
Sunday Morning and I had a few things I wanted to do to educate myself. As we head to the Northern Territory in under 3 weeks for Garma I had some reading and admin to do around that trip.
Wanted to start reading Project 2025 as it is over 900 pages long and felt I needed to be across it from a high level if I was going to continue my negativity around Trump being elected. Not that I needed much more ammunition.
Yesterday I sent a messenger message to my friend Joe about what was happening on Saturday Morning and mentioned items on my To to-do list. He responded this morning “Trump shot?” at 8:26 AM AET. As I had just logged on and coffee was just entering my veins, I thought he was jokingly asking me to add that to my To Do list.
Penny dropped and I got deep into the news cycle for the next 4 hours.
With so many reporters at the rally, the news was coming fast and thick. The video and photos were coming in hot and the replay was constant. Interviews with many Trump supporters were emotional and some of course amusing.
I am not the only one who has been saying that this is something that could happen this year. Besides the high environmental temperatures in the USA this Summer, the political landscape is toxic and hotter than a dumpster fire. Right vs Left, woke-ism vs dead asleep-ism, blue vs red. People cannot even have a civil conversation about the upcoming election. Anger and fear fill the air.
Trump was yelling FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT with his fist raised in the air as he was bundled off.
A good friend of mine was up in Marin County (California) today at Rancho Nicasio. On the ground there, no one knew of the happenings. It looked like a wonderful gathering of old Deadheads listening to music from another time. Twirling and swaying along to Jackie Greene. Oblivious to the chaos on the other side of the country.
My mate Nello said he went to a party afterward and not one person mentioned the shooting. Not one. How can that be possible? My thoughts are that people are afraid to talk about politics in public. It’s a dangerous topic. You could get shot.
Trump was shot in the ear. This picture shows how close this was to a very serious injury to the Republican nominee. My feelings about Trump are well-known. I have said out loud many times that someone is going to take a shot at him. No surprise. But I do not condone it. Even if I knew it would eliminate that nominee, I knew that his being assassinated on the campaign trail would result in more blood on the streets.
That did not happen today and you don’t get many shots at a President or former President in the USA. Things are going to be even tighter, security-wise, over the next 4 months and forever.

Some have said it was staged to push the Republic towards civil war. I think we are beyond that. No matter who wins in this next election there is going to be civil disturbance in America.
Some people wished he had been hit.
Other folks are wondering why people did not scramble and run like you see in most mass shootings in America. I think they were shocked and the shooting stopped pretty quickly. I think conspiracy theories will grow as the days progress.
We have heard that the gunman had no ID on his body when it was recovered from the roof of a nearby shed. That will get people thinking all sorts of nonsense.
I do believe that someone had to have been in charge of monitoring that raised shed. Someone did not do their job. Or of course, someone who was paid off to look the other way will be part of another conspiracy theory.
If you have an imagination you can create any scenario you like.
You do not need imagination to know how broken apart American Society is as we approach Election Day 2024.
The American Voters have to stay focused on electing anyone but Trump. As someone said the other day, “ I would vote for Biden if it was just his head in a jar.”
We don’t want either party to present us with a head in a jar.
Look at the platform of both parties. You make up your mind, America.
Read Project 2025 and look at what the Conservatives want for the USA.
Any educated and intelligent American reading through that manuscript should know that a Vote For Trump is a vote for the end of democracy.
