Ryan Adams….Seriously….Gutted and Disgusted

January 22, 2002-Ryan Adams @ The Metro in Sydney. I knew of him from his Whiskeytown days…but I think this may have been his first gig in Australia. The excitement was palpable because “Gold” was just an amazing record…and we all had heard “Heartbreaker”. A 28 song set list….if you were there you will never forget that gig.

The Enmore…The Factory…The Opera House…The Hordern….so many nights of pure beauty, laughs and musicianship.

Now this…Ryan has abused his power, abused women, and forever tarnished a body of work that few people get to even come close to producing and releasing.

Yeah, as many are…I am gutted. What do we do with all this music that touched our souls and hearts in many ways. Music that left bookmarks in our lives.

I am unsure as of today what will happen when I do want to hear him with The Cardinals, or solo, or just to sing along with “Come Pick Me Up”.

I don’t know….

But I do know I am greatly disappointed in what Ryan has done to and with these women. I hope he can help heal them first. I hope he can heal himself. But right now….I am pissed off and gutted and betrayed. I have never felt like this….and I ain’t no kid.
