Wandering around the city I have lived most of my 38 years in Australia in January of 2022 is not bringing me a feeling of joy.
Where is the buzz? The sunburnt tourists? Drinks with friends at the drop of a hat?
Dancing has been banned.
Music is permitted. But venues are finding it hard to remain open….
There is a problem with that equation.
Fear of Omicron and the spread of the same has given us another Summer like no other.
Options seem limited. Motivation is damaged. Planning is impossible. Friends and family are getting sick. Healthcare workers are being overworked.
Maybe this is the way the pandemic ends.
Like an encore at a concert, saving the biggest bang of illness for the close as we build immunity.
But the damage has been done. What is the normal that you desire?
My idea of normal is all about connecting with people and being social and spontaneous. Normal will never be the same.
It never is.
Change is normal.
Shopping for more crap for our landfills is not what we want to return to.
Simplicity in almost everything we do is something worth working towards.
This time will pass and we will discover more challenges but do not forget that we will discover as much joy and ecstasy.
You just have to open that door and have a good look around.
Don’t let fear rule the way you live.
See you soon.
