"K" Bands/Musos I Recall Seeing
We sit at 52 at the time of publishing....these numbers constantly change as the memory comes back at times....from a tune...etc....so check back if ya like.
Continuing with this alphabetical project we delve into the musical artists and bands I saw that commence with the letter “K”.
Kaiit Bellamia Waup
Kaki King
Karl Denson
Kasey Chambers-Was lucky enough to be at Kasey’s first solo performance at The Byron Bay Blues Festival in 1999. With 2 young kids in tow, I recall leaning on the stage with my daughter really enjoying this new talent. I had seen her with a family the day before with The Dead Ringer Band.
Fast forward to February 2020 and a ferry ride to Taronga Zoo with my daughter, visiting from California, and we caught her concert again. Little did we know the pandemic would then separate us for over 2 years.
Kate Miller-Heideke
Katie Webster
KC and The Sunshine Band
KD Lang-Had a wonderful face-to-face interview with her in Sydney. We sat cross-legged, barefoot, on a couch in some room in a hotel in Sydney. We had a fabulous chat.
Keb Mo
Keith Richards-Long may he run, he’s got an amazing half-life! When he married Patti Hansen, she called the apartment where I resided in Brooklyn. She was on her honeymoon with Keith in Mexico and was looking for a model mate who had gone out with my friend Tom.
Tom answered the phone and told Patti that he had no idea where her friend was.
I came home later that day and he told me the story.
My question is, “Did you ask to speak to the groom to congratulate him?”
He did not. Fail!
Keith Urban-I got dragged along to this gig at the opening of the International Convention Centre in Sydney in 2016. Keith can play guitar but this was such a mainstream pile of cow dung I found myself wandering outside for a drink and a smoke a number of times. He even covered a Bob Markey song….come on, man.
Kelly Jo Phelps
Ken Stringfellow
Kenny Neal
Kenny Rankin
Kenny Rogers
Kenny Wayne Shepard
Kentucky Headhunters
Kermit Ruffins
Kevin Bennet
Kevin Borich
Kev Carmody
Kevin Devine
Khruangbin-Caught them down in Adelaide last year at Harvest Rock. Fabulous set and one of the few where it was not pissing down with rain.
Kid Creole and the Coconuts
Kids In The Kitchen
Kid Hank
Kieran Kane
Kill Devil Hills
Kim Salmon with or without The Surrealists
Kim Volkman and The Whiskey Priests
Kim Wilson
King Curly
King Gizzard
King Khan and The BBQ Show
King Stingray-These lads from Arnhem Land are on Fire. With ancestral roots from Yothu Yindi, they are creating a legacy of their own with a second record on the horizon.
King Sunny Ade
King Tide-One of my favourite live bands from Sydney with some good mates of mine making the music. They don’t play too often these days, but when they do, go have a boogie and listen to the reggae stylings of The Tide. And this band is the band of the letter “K” that I have seen the most.
Kings Of Leon
Kinks
Kinky Friedman
Kitty, Daisy and Lewis
Kool And The Gang-They played down at Bondi on the day of the City To Surf. It was the day I ran it in 60 minutes. 14 kilometers (8.6 miles). Basketball and running were my exercise and so far the knees have not given out, but my left one is starting to act up!
Koko Taylor-Got to see her once in Brooklyn at Prospect Park with Johnny Copeland on the bill. Summertime Blues heaven!
Koteka Wenda
Kris Kristofferson-My ex-wife had an intimate moment with Kris when she was of just legal age. Many years later we saw Kris in Sydney and I got tickets in the first row, front, and centre, just to see if he recalled her after a number of decades.
He did not mention it nor give her a secret smile.
Kristina Olsen
Kronos Quartet
KT Tunstall
Kurt Vile-I love Kurt and his cute smile and that he toured with John Prine.
Kylie Audist
