"E" Bands/Musos I Recall Seeing
If My Memory Serves Me Well We Are Sitting at 51 so far.
Well continuing with this project, I would like to present you with the Letter āEā.
As I was writing that sentence it took me back to my days of watching Sesame Street.
Sesame Street burst onto our TVās when I was just discovering the wonders of getting stoned. My friends and I spent many an hour watching this while we smoked some Mexican or Colombian hooch when we cut class or after school as we wound down from another grueling day of education.
Simply, between the animation and the jokes only adults would get and those damn freaky Muppets, we howled with red-eyed laughter.
So without further ado, we will dedicate this post to Elmo, which of course starts with āEā. And the number for today is 42. 42 artists that I can recall from the decades of live gigs. As always I will be adding to this post as time goes on because I am sure another āEā artist will re-appear in my cranium or on a stage somewhere. We need the Count to help me out!
Artists in bold I have seen multiple timesā¦..because I am a glutton for music.

The āEā artist that I have seen the most is Elvis Costello. Over 40 odd years, I have seen him a couple of dozen times. From 1978 until now I had not missed at least one show on each tour. When he did a tour with Squeeze I went to 3 shows in a row in NYC.
1991 he is booked to play at the Sydney Entertainment Centre with the Rude 5. I only counted 3 and they were:
Jerry Scheff - bass
Larry Knechtel - keyboards, electric guitar
Pete Thomas - drums
Marc Ribot had been part of the Rude 5 but he did not make it down under. On this night even his amazing guitar work would have been lost in the cavernous Ent Cent.
Besides the sound being shithouse, it certainly seemed like Mr. Costello had enough of touring for 1991 as this was his third to last gig. You could hardly see the band and the gig lurched along from beauty to me even thinking about walking out.
His previous visit to Australia in 1987 with The Confederates rates up there as one of his best without The Attractions. That band included:
James Burton - lead guitar (JAMES FUCKING BURTON!)
Jerry Scheff - bass
Jim Keltner - drums
Austin de Lone - keyboards
Nick Lowe - guitar, vocals (billed as a special guest, not an "official" member of the group)
Elvis had to cancel his 2023 visit that was due to happen over Easter. This was the first time I was going to miss him and only because of reviews and feedback from others who had seen him recently.
He has rescheduled these shows to 2024. I will probably go ONE MORE TIME!
My daughter Freyaās middle name is Alison.
Yeah, I am an Elvis tragic.
