Even though I am on the road seeking out new music never stops.
Album Of The Month
Tedeschi Trucks Band -I Am The Moon I. Crescent -This is the first release of 4 and as I write this I know the second part of the 4 parts was released in the last 48 hours. Check out Part 1 of the film below.
This band continues to create music and a vibe that takes me back 50 years but it is perfectly suited for the times we live in. Soulful and spiced with love and funk and rock and roll and blues…..
Was hard to pick one album of the month as June has given us many beautiful fruits, so check these juicy treats out when ya get a chance.
Tanya Lee-Davies-Dreamland-Melbourne songstress delivers a dreamy pop record. Yeah, I wrote that.
Foreday Riders and Ray Beadle-Durn’ Tootin-Ray and The King Brothers have recorded one of the best Blues Albums out of Australia in some time. I have played it for Americans who know the blues and they agree it is a damn fine record. The Foreday Riders have been together 55 years, what would you expect?
Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue-Lifted-Troy Andrews and his crew have released their first album in 5 years and it is on fire. Too hot to touch, so don’t! Just get down and get the funk. And here is a read of a show I saw some 9 years ago….what a night.

Fantastic Negrito-White Jesus Black Problems-With song titles like “You Don’t Belong Here” and “You Better Have A Gun”, this is not some lighthearted music from Nashville or The Brill Building.
The tunes are based on Negrito’s seventh-generation removed ancestors; a white Scottish indentured servant living in a common-law marriage with an African American slave in 1750s Virginia. Each song has a video. Negrito moves on from the blues.
G Love and Special Sauce-Philadelphia Mississippi-G and his posse bring the Philly boy back to the Hill Country. He has been in these hills for some time if you have paid attention to his music.
Jim Dickinson produced his 1995 release Coast To Coast Motel in 1995. Luther Dickinson, Jim’s son, brings it full circle by herding the cats for this record. Throw in some hill country players and you have magic. As they say, Hill Country Happens.
So many first-class records this month….all worth checking out from beginning to end.
American Aquarium-Chicamacomico-Hitting all the nerves and emotions with this one.
Elvis Costello and Rusty-The Resurrection of Rust EP-An album Elvis and his mate would of or should have made in the 70s.
Craig Finn-Legacy Of Rentals-Finn still rolling out records without the Hold Steady. The man can write some.
Mavis Staples and Levon Helm-Carry Me Home-Recorded a year before Levon passed. Mavis and Levon, yeah, it is quite a stellar recording.
Tommy and the Oh’s-Mariposa Gold-Psychedelic moods under the Californian Sun via Nashville.
