The shortest month of the year has dished up some fine dining for my ears.
So if you are stuck inside because of the rain, driving down the road, or mourning Warnie, tune in and find out what floated my boat recently.
To everyone who has and is suffering from the floods and the rain, my love and thoughts fly your way. May the sunshine come your way and ease your burdens.
Alive In America -Henry Graces’s debut record is an autobiographical tale of his struggles with depression. It is stripped back and you can hear the echoes coming from his soul. It’s a moving and warm and stripped-back record that is filled with real life.
Water and Dust-William Crighton- This is William’s third full-length album and it is a banger, to say the least. He has found his groove, his heart, and his soul. His partner in life and family and music Julieanne joins him alongside names familiar with Midnight Oil fans, Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst.
Jeff Lang also contributes his stellar slide guitar and after seeing Crighton perform with Jeff at Dashville Skyline they are kicking goals. This could be the Australian Album of The Year.
How Long Will It Take Them To Die is a fabulous slice of Americana from Goodnight, Texas. Simone Felice has moved away from producing and released a new disc that is worth your time and make sure you check out The Delines-The Sea Drift and the funky and soulful The Alien Coast by St. Paul and The Broken Bones.
Have a bit of fun watching this video….
The Album Of the Month Award goes to Cold As Weiss. The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio continues in their funky groove. That’s it, you know what it will sound like. Certainly will get you to move your feet and shape your mouth into a smile.
Throw in some tracks from Bill Calahan, Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder rising together, Willie Nelson at 89 and so much more to enlighten and enliven your ears. Enjoy!
