December and we are all digesting our Christmas foods and kicking back on Boxing Day. The end of the year finds me listening to less new music but some still filter through.
The final installment of 2023 is now coming right at ya.
Throw on the playlist while you hang out in the sun or rain or just lying on the couch while you read that new book.
Yes, time for a quick trip to the shops. Not for any Boxing Day Sales, just some food and then I hear a couch calling me.
Best Album Of The Month
Ryan Davis and The Roadhouse Band-Dancing On The Edge-Picking at the scabs of life and loving with pedal steel and great wordsmithing.
“This guy Kevin who played bass on [album track] ‘Flashes of Orange,’ I’d never even met him before,” Davis confesses. “[Producer] Seth [Manchester] was just like ‘I have an idea, can I call this dude who lives nearby and we’ll see what he does?’ We were like ‘I don’t give a shit.’ It sounded great so we rolled with it.”
“We got up there the night before we started tracking and essentially stayed up all night passing booze and instruments back and forth, talking about what should happen and how,” Davis says. “After that, we just went for it and never looked back.”
Give it a go. Great album art work too.
Muireann Bradley- I Kept These Old Blues- This made my Top 23 of 2023 and only discovered it this month. Beautiful picking and interpretations of these old blues songs.
Cat Power Sings Dylan- The 1966 Royal Albert Town Hall Concert-Chan Marshall, AKA Cat Power, delivers these songs perfectly. Very rare for me to have a live record on here, especially a Cat Power record.
Enjoy the end of 2023! Bring on the next one!
