The above is an article that has come out due to the Barbie film.
I am sorry but this is not a ‘news’ piece.
It is almost a Wiki page on what patriarchy is.
The article answers these questions:
What is patriarchy?
What are the characteristics of a patriarchal society?
Is patriarchy another term for gender inequality?
Are all societies patriarchal and have they always been?
Is the US a patriarchy?
So aside from Barbieland, what other societies are matriarchies?
Is patriarchy good for men?
Can a patriarchy be dismantled?
If you are reading a newspaper, if you are reading something that has some big words in it, you should know what ‘patriarchy’ means. Don’t ya think?
But for those that do not know the word, CNN has written an entire piece defining it for you.
Dismantling this paradigm is fine.
My disturbance is over the fact that a piece like this has to be written to ‘educate’ readers on something that is in their face every day.
P.S. I have not seen the movie and this is not a review of the film. This is just me shaking my head at what passes as intelligence these days.
