Every day.
Every night.
Whether you are sleeping or awake, the scourge of colonisation gallops across our landscape.
The deeds of the past are handed down from one civilization to the next.
Indigenous life is filled with a trail of blood and tears.
The headline news these days is all about colonisation.
750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their land in 1948.
250,000 in 1967.
Read the headlines and you can see what is happening.
Take a look a bit closer and it is obvious that this is not just a reaction to what has been labelled ‘terrorism’. When Israel attacks, it is called war.
The media feeds us the words and the propaganda.
The United States has funded Israel with 3.8 billion annually in military grants and Bidens has requested more as you can see below.
Don’t let anyone bullshit you when they say this is not colonisation.
On December 1st I communed with some of the indigenous community from West Papua. This is colonisation happening about 1,000 clicks from Darwin.
West Papua is a region that has been populated for tens of thousands of years and had little contact with the outside world up until 125 years ago.
First the Dutch now the Indonesians control the region, the people and the resources.
The Grasberg Mine is the largest gold-producing mine in the world and the third-largest copper mine on the planet.
It is in Papua.
You can work out why this area has been colonised.
Take your time, and don’t think too hard, it’s right in front of your eyes.
West Papua
Colonisation continues.
Everywhere you look.
Here in Australia, we talk about healing.
Here in Australia the defining “NO” vote on the referendum ensures the wounds still bleed.
How do you sleep at night if you voted “NO”?
From 1963 until today, over 1/2 million people have been killed so Indonesia can control the resources within that region.
West Papua is virtually cut off to foreign reporters and local media sources or journalists have to look over their shoulders every day.
Raising the Morningstar Flag can have you arrested for treason.
Darfur
Myanmar
China
Ukraine
Gaza
Yes, the Israeli style of ethnic cleansing is getting all the press.
The irony of a Jewish State…the people who suffered one of the most horrific genocidal moments in history …carrying out this so-called war on Hamas is beyond words. But not beyond feeling.
October 7th was just another part of this colonisation and the reaction of the people to it.
Killing solves nothing.
This cycle of hatred, violence, and domination continues wherever natural resources and strategic land are part of the equation.
Today the Gaza Strip is a headline and at some point, the Israeli military manoeuvre will end.
It will disappear from our news feed and we will be fed something else to focus on.
Kittens?
Genocide and colonisation will continue in places you don’t even think about.
Afghanistan
Syria
Iraq
Haiti
Add them to the list.
Colonisation has left many scars and has cost the world millions of miracles.
Each life is a miracle.
December 1st was a day to gather and connect in Federation Square and Hamer Hall.
Blaktivism.
Indigenous people from our region under the heading of Blaktivism at Hamer Hall continued the thread.
The drums continue to beat. Children continue to be born. Songs are still sung.
We are not separate.
You are my family.
You are a human being. Just like me.
Your culture, your life, and your lore/law are as real as the sunshine in the morning.
Time runs short for all of us.
Be on the side of love.
